New album of an excellent blues rock band with an exclusive guest on drums

Livin Free was formed in 2018 as an original project of the singer and organist Jan “Honza” Holeček (ex-Flamengo, Energit). After the successful debut “Voices from beyond”, the second full-length album “From Cradle to Coffin”, recorded in collaboration with the US American drummer Winston A. Watson Jr. (ex-Bob Dylan Band), is out now. The eight tracks offer elements of classic rock, blues, soul and gospel, all with a modern twist. Behind the original sound of Livin Free is a unique fusion of musicians from several generations who contributed to the arrangements and the final album.

Together with Honza Holeček, they are bassist Vladimír “Guma” Kulhánek (ex-Flamengo, Bohemia, Katapult), who celebrates his 80th birthday this year, young guitarist Jiří Rambousek, saxophonist Vladimír “Boryš” Secký (ex-Flamengo) and Michal “Kolouch” Daněk, who added percussion and some drum parts. The album “From Cradle to Coffin” is due to the unmistakable authorial handwriting of Honza Holeček, his characteristic singing and Hammond playing, but also to the deeper meaning of the songs that can be found in the lyrics. Together with the sound quality of the recordings from the Sono studio and the interesting cover art, this is an extraordinary piece of music, quite at the same time following the classical foundations.
