Croatia Records Release Information

The vinyl reissue of the cult jazz album “Tiffany Girl” by the Boško Petrović Quartet is available.

The vibraphonist Boško Petrović is an inevitable name when we talk about the Yugoslavian jazz scene. With his charming, polished character and virtuoso musicianship, he put Zagreb on the map of the world jazz scene and showed the way to future generations of jazz musicians.

One of the pearls of his rich discography is certainly “Tiffany Girl”, a release on which some of the biggest names of the jazz scene of that time appear. Boško Petrović on the vibraphone, pianist Kenny Drew, double bassist Peter Herbert and drummer Alvin Queen gathered in the Boško Petrović Quartet performed the great hits “Tiffany Girl”, “Valse for Jazz Mama”, “That Slavic Smile”, “My Funny Valentine”, “Whisper not” and “Green Lobster Dream”. In honor of our respected jazz musician, Croatia Records has released a reissue of this iconic album, enriched with new lyrics, photos and remastered recordings from the original tapes.

Boško Petrović was a great intellectual, he adored painting and literature, and he often drew inspiration for new compositions from his favorite books. His playing was just one way of expressing everything that art offered him. He was widely known as a great charmer and a great host, as a man who left a strong impression on all those with whom he engaged in conversation. He selflessly shared knowledge with young people who were looking for their place on the music scene, and it was Boško who was the originator of the idea of gathering young musicians in Grožnjan, the local jazz mecca.

The character and work of Boško Petrović will be remembered forever, as is the case with all great musicians and artists. His music will never stop being listened to, his stories will never stop being retold, and the joy that comes with every mention of our esteemed vibraphonist will never fade away.
