4CD set containing the albums Dah: Veliki cirkus; Gordi: Pakleni trio; Gordi: Kraljica smrti; Zlatko Manojlović: The Best of
The legendary guitarist Zlatko Manojlović released the remastered albums of the groups Dah and Gordi in one box set
“Od Daha do Gordih” (From Dah to Gordi) is the name of the box set of the legendary guitarist Zlatko Manojlović, a pioneer of Yugoslavian heavy metal, also known for his work in the rock group Dah and the hard rock / heavy metal group Gordi.
This box set contains remastered the albums of the aforementioned groups, which were originally released for Jugoton, and a bonus CD with the greatest hits of his solo career. The debut album of the Belgrade band Dah, “Veliki cirkus” (The Big Circus), is a true progressive rock pearl released in 1974, the singer and guitarist of the band was Zlatko Manojlović who also composed the music and radio arrangements, while Zoran Modli wrote all the lyrics and was behind the production. Even more extravagant was the group Gordi, which in the beginning played typical rock, and then progressive, that is, hard rock in the seventies, and with their fourth and fifth last albums “Pakleni trio” (Infernal Trio) and “Kraljica smrti” (Queen of Death), they turned into a heavy metal band. Thus, we can consider them pioneers of classic heavy metal, i.e. one of the first bands of this type in Yugoslavia.
The mentioned three releases were remastered by Mauro Širol at the Croatia Records Studio, while the fourth CD contains mainly rock and progressive rock, instrumental pearls by guitarist virtuoso Zlatko Manojlović and several songs under his stage name Zed Mitchell. This CD with songs chosen by Zlatko Manojlović himself opens with the iconic “Jednoj ženi” (One Woman), about which the rock critic and publicist Petar Janjatović wrote in the edition's booklet:
“He recorded a kind of “letter of intent” a little earlier, while he was in the army in Ljubljana. It was a double single that featured the instrumental “Jednoj ženi”. Eternal inspiration made it an evergreen theme that seemed to outline his later career. In the collective memory of the generations of that time, “Jednoj ženi” remained as the opening credits of the night program of Radio Belgrade. How many times in a car on the way home at midnight has that emotionally informed guitar theme rang out.”
