For almost fifty years the history of one of the most original Czechoslovakian and Slovakian rock bands, Fermáta, has been written. After more than 14 years, the band comes with a new, already thirteenth album. The album comes out under the title “Blumental blues” and is a joint creative effort of the founders of this group, František “Fero” Griglák and Tomáš Berka.

After several years of working break, they met in the studio and put together ten new typically Fermáta compositions. Six of them were composed by Fero Griglák and two each by Tomáš Berka and Fermata’s new keyboardist Matej “Maxo” Mikloš. Griglák and Mikloš have additionally contributed two co-writes each to the album. The individual tracks carry memory and reflection on an unrepeatable place and time. The album loosely follows Tomáš Berka’s book “Blumentálske blues” (Blumental blues) from 2010, in which the author has described his childhood, adolescence and turbulent life in the vicinity of the Blumental Church and the residential and commercial block “Avion” in Bratislava.

The group recorded the album with Fero Griglák (guitars, keyboards, drum machine) Tomáš Berka (keyboards), Matej “Maxo” Mikloš (keyboards) and Tamász Belicza (bass guitar). The album’s artwork and photographs come from the creative workshop of Vlad Holina. The recording in the new modern Grif studio provided all the participants with a home-like environment and comfort while recording, in addition to state-of-the-art equipment. The fact that the recording time was not limited by deadlines also contributed to the final sound of the album, so the members of Fermáta had plenty of time for precise mixing and mastering.

The result is a great sounding album full of musical ideas and instrumental mastery. The new album “Blumental blues”, with its ten original tracks, builds on the best of what the group has created during its existence and thus ranks with the group’s previous highly successful concept albums.
