Released in the spring of 1977, the album “NOL – Niezidentyfikowany obiekt latający” (UFO – Unidentified Flying Object) is one of the most underrated and at the same time unique moments in the history of the band Breakout. Although the band’s line-up underwent many changes, Tadeusz Nalepa remained faithful to his vision – combining blues roots with new sounds and funk energy. “NOL” also marks the return of Mira Kubasińska and Nalepa singing together, with room for both lyrical ballads (the excellent “Biel” (White), present in the band’s repertoire since 1974), as well as a dynamic marriage of funk rhythms, blues riffs and – a one-off novelty in the band’s history – a modest synthesiser part (“Gdzie mnie wiodą” (Where They Lead Me)).

The album also features excellent musicians: Bogdan Lewandowski (Hammond organ) and Andrzej Tylec (drums). Songs such as “W pochodzie codzienności” (In the March of Everyday Life), “Biel” (“White”) and “Słuchaj rytmu” (Listen to the Rhythm) demonstrate the maturity and diversity of the band’s sound. Mira Kubasińska’s vocal parts are more prominent than Tadeusz Nalepa’s throughout the album. However, Tadeusz sang “W pochodzie codzienności” (In the March of Everyday Life), one of the most interesting and important songs in Breakout’s entire oeuvre.
