The eighth installment of the successful retro rock compilation series

Searching for hard rock in the Czech discography of the 1970s and early 1980s is not exactly easy. After the communist lessons of the 1968 crisis, the homegrown musicians were under great pressure, some emigrated, others changed the musical genre. The bravest, often under unprovoking universal band names and with plugged haircuts, tried to make electric noise with all their might. Synkopy 61, Jiří Schelinger’s transformation with F. R. Čech’s band, the breakthrough trio Katapult, the brave ladies Petra Janů (with Ota Petřina), Věra Špinarová and Jana Kratochvílová, the keyboardist Lešek Semelka with S. L .S., the multi-hit Turbo, the graduated Citron, the hard elements in Olympic’s songs and Projektil’s single responses together make up the 42 tracks of this selection. Genre purity is sometimes not 100%, but the attempt to rumble within the boundaries of the then lyrical and decibel law of moderate progression is. The founding fathers, with the welcome support of suitable mothers, forged the path to front-running metal musicians in the latter half of the 1980s.

Despite all the obstacles at the time, they remain a fundamentally important part of our rock history to this day.
