Famous big beat songs, this time again on vinyl

The successful 2CD “Big Beat Line 1965-1968” has given birth to a new LP selection of the best. A total of 16 tracks capture the first officially recorded and released phase of Czechoslovak big beat. You will find a Shadows-style homemade guitar instrumental as well as an audio document of Olympic’s journey from just a backing band of solo singers to a cohesive Mersey-style crew.

You will hear interesting vocal and genre transformations from the Matadors, Mephisto and Flamengo. Petr Novak sings his first big hit here, while Pavel Novák and Karel Černoch prove their excellent voices in service of the poppier but cult songs. Both the Bratislava Soulmen and the Brno siblings Ulrych confirm their uniqueness. A major hit, for many representing the prototype of the great radio breakthrough of young electrified music, was contributed by Crystal.

The charmingly simple sound of the period has been given a current remastering refresh. The cover art graphically follows the time-honored CD line. The inner sleeve features stories and photographs of important musicians from the early days of the homegrown big beat, working towards a pivotal position in our popular music beyond the 1960s.

A must-have for memorabilia buffs and a challenge for today’s retro fans!
