Rock Diszkont & Fémcsajok Release Information

After three years, Tales of Evening, the symphonic metal band from Nagykanizsa with ravishing female vocals and monumental keyboard melodies released their third studio album, “A fény nyomában” (In Search of the Light) in 2018.

The album was recorded and mixed by Attila Ádám, and the mastering was done at Green Man Studios in Germany under the supervision of Sebastian “Seeb” Levermann (Orden Ogan), who also worked on the albums of Vanishing Point and Rhapsody of Fire. The cover artwork was created by Red-Art Illustrations graphic designer Alex Mihályfi-Tóth.

The intro to the album suggests that it’s a much more polished effort than its predecessors “Hajléktalan lélek” (Homeless Soul) from 2012 and “Szilánkok” (Fragments) from 2015, although those releases have also stuck in my heart. After the chilling “Intro”, we are straight into the metal thick of things with “Törd szét” (Shatter), “Könnycsepp leszek” (I’ll Be a Teardrop) and “Emlékezz az életre” (Remember Life).

Ivett shows a much bolder voice than on the previous albums, energetic vocals. more playfulness with her voice – these are the words I can use to describe her performance, which is an important pillar of the songs. I should mention here also, that the instrumentation is more varied than on the previous releases, with bolder guitars and more powerful drums that harmonise well with the symphonic sound.

The band presented us with “Káprázat” (Dazzle) before the album was released, and it is one of the most energetic songs on the album. “Elmúlás csarnoka” (The Hall of Passing) is one of the most emotional songs on the album, and one that can easily make your eyes blur. It’s not a slow song, but despite its dynamics, it hits deep into the soul to bring up all the pain – which can then be released...

The album’s title track “A fény nyomában” (In Search of the Light) starts strong and continues as such, clearly one of the highlights. This is followed by the brooding and emotional “Az elérhetetlen” (The Unattainable), and then the familiar “Keresni téged” (Looking for You). After the dreamlike musical solutions of “A tenger és én” (The Sea and Me), we come to the last song, “Elszánt legbelül” (Desperate Inside), which is closed by the “Outro”. A fitting end to a great album.

The Ivettes Dudás follow the light, and they succeed in leading us to the light. To the light that dries up the bitter tears and can fill our souls with sparks of hope even in our darkest hours. A monumental, incredibly mature album with original ideas, heartfelt lyrics and an outstanding sound.
