Supraphon Release Information

At the end of 2000, guitarist Marek Doubrava left Tata Bojs, tired of the endless touring. Although Marek was extremely important to the band as a very talented musician, Tata Bojs managed to survive his departure. They held a contest for a new guitarist, which was won by the also very talented Maťo Mišík, incidentally the son of rock legend Vladimír Mišík. In the meantime, the singer Klára Nemravová became a permanent guest of the band and the producer and sound engineer Dušan Neuwerth joined the team as an important part of Tata Bojs.

These events resulted in a new album, released in the spring of 2002 and titled “Biorytmy” (Biorhythms). Mardoša reflects on why “Biorytmy”: “It has to do with the cover art, which is all in the theme of flora – so it’s all flowers. We were also interested in the connection between human biorhythms and musical rhythms. Music copies these natural rhythms, it is said that the heart of an embryo beats at 120 BPM, which is the ideal dance rhythm. It’s just such a return to nature.”

The album is very rhythmic, but also very melodic – much more than we have ever been used to with Tata Bojs. There is a certain calmness on “Biorytmy”. The musicians have matured, the album is more acceptable to a wider audience, and at the same time it is a bit more thoughtful than their previous albums. But the band certainly hasn’t lost its legendary energy or much of its distinctive humour. “Biorytmy” went straight from zero to the first place in the IFPI album chart right after its release, which was a turning point for the whole Czech show business. The album contains hits like “Tanečnice” (Dancer), “Attention aux hommes” and “Šťastnější” (Happier).
