Rock Diskont Release Information

Endre Paksi, heavy metal singer, songwriter and lyricist, former bass guitarist, and the frontman and bandleader of Ossian, one of the leading Hungarian heavy metal bands, will release his first solo album at the end of September 2022. The album features 14 songs with a more personal sound than any Ossian composition to date.

Endre Paksi about the album: “I have had the privilege of meeting a lot of wonderful artists and songs in my life, and most of them have stood the test of time. Decades later I still feel the same enthusiasm for them, and they have all left their mark on me. And now, for the first time in my life, I wanted to present my own complete musical world and my influences even more in a solo performance. If you are fed up with this crazy world, come with me via Peace Avenue to this little Music Island, where Rock ’n’ Roll Radio plays non-stop!

I would like to stress that this album does not affect the work of Ossian. Ossian albums and tours will continue.

In addition, this record was also made together with Ricsi. The only difference is that these songs are more influenced by my complete musical influences, the rock music of the 70s and 80s. If I were to describe this material in terms of mood, I would say that it is something like “Az igazi szabadság” (The True Freedom), “30 év legszebb balladái” (The Most Beautiful Ballads of 30 Years), and the trajectory of “A lélek hangja” (The Voice of the Soul), but perhaps even bolder.

For example, there is a song with just piano and vocals. The piano playing is thanks to Attila Ádám, the musical brain and keyboard player of Tales of Evening, an old friend and excellent musician! He already contributed a lot to the album “Az igazi szabadság” (The True Freedom) and we have been working together ever since.

This time I played bass on the solo album, which gives the sound a different character. It is not going to be that very tied up thing with a pick, it is going to be much more playful. And Ricsi brought some fantastic guitar themes. He started getting into music in the 80s, which on the metal front was most marked by Metallica. But he said that even back then he really liked the music from Rocky movies, like “Eye of the Tiger” from Survivor. In light of that, I showed him a lot of stuff from that world, which he really got into.”
