The album “Krywań, Krywań” (SACD Hybrid) by Skaldowie in a limited edition, in the series “Polskie Nagrania Catalogue Selections”. This is the first edition of this album in the SACD (Super Audio Compact Disc) format. The choice of this format is a nod to audiophiles.

“Krywań, Krywań” is the seventh album by Skaldowie (The Skalds). It is a conglomerate of prog rock, folk music and classical inspirations. It is one of the band’s best, most original and attractive albums.

As the musicians themselves explained on the album envelope: ““Krywań” – the mysterious word is simply the name of one of the peaks in the Slovakian Tatra mountains. It is a very picturesque mountain, so it is no wonder that it became the subject of one of the most beautiful highland folk songs, a reflective ballad entitled “Krywaniu, Krywaniu”.

This song served us as the leitmotif of an extended piece, with which we wanted to, as it were, sum up our musical activity to date. Therefore, in the improvisations, you can find things that are typical for us, such as highlander or classical motifs, or even quotations of fragments from works by great composers such as Bach, Mussorgsky, Borodin or Rossini.

Guessing the titles of these works is already a task for our listeners. Oh, and one more thing. We recorded this album on the night of 22.-23. May 1972 between 6 pm and 2 am in the Hall of the National Philharmonic in Warsaw.”

The album can be listened to endlessly – guessing and wandering with the sounds on the peaks of musical imagination. The cover was created by Waldemar Świerzy.
